Nicole Watterson vs Son Chichi (The Amazing World of Gumball vs Dragon Ball)

Nicole vs Chichi

"Hell hath no fury, like a woman scorned"

-William Congreve

Ah mothers, you can't live without them. This maybe a "man's world" but it wouldn't be nothing, nothing! Without a woman or girl, and mother's are the ultimate example of this. They clothe us, feed us, raise us, without receiving anything in return, they do it out of love, only asking that we live our live's in the standard that they raised us to be. However, sometimes we can get a little wild, and while our mother's try to settle us down peacefully, sometimes we go as far as to push our mother's to their absolute limit, unleashing a fury unrivaled and an anger that would even make Hulk and Broly seem like a mild temper.

Today's mother's are no exception, however, unlike the typical mother, these two take their fury to the next level, and considering the family they're apart of, it makes sense. It's time to find out in this Mother's Day special, which Mother of Fury will reach their Limit first in a DeathBattle!

Before we get started.....

Alright, so were just gonna stick with the show for Nicole, there are comics based off the series, however, the canonicity of those comic's is very debatable, so we're just sticking with the tv show.

Chichi on the other hand will be allowed equipment and feat's from the games she's appeared in, as long as they don't break the matchup giving her the win, and will only receive feats from the original manga and anime.

Doctor "Nicole" Watterson

"Actually, you know what? I wouldn't change a thing."

The town of Elmore, home to some of the most...well, let's say "interesting" people you might ever meet. Though it may seem like a normal city, everything in the city has the potential to come to life. Some of its residents include peanuts, dinosaurs, apes displaced by time, flowers, whatever the hell Principal Brown is, and a piece of toast...yeah shit get's weird here. However, this cities most infamous residents is none other than The Watterson's, fictions most dysfunctional family of all time. The Lazy but well meaning Patriarch, Richard, the scheming egotistical pessimist with a hidden heart of gold and the namesake of which the series is named after, Gumaball, The Pet Fish who grew legs and became an official child of the family, Darwin, and the incredibly smart youngest child, Anias. Each of them have the potential to cause mass chaos, though unintentionally, to the city. Thankfully, the matriarch of the family can use her immense strength and rage, to rein them in, yes we're talking about Nicole Watterson.

Nicole was raised in a very demanding and strict family. Her parents had high exceptions for her since birth, they literally named her Doctor, which is funny until someone starts choking and people start asking if their's a doctor in the house. Her parents made her sign up for many after school activities, at the same time, giving an A+ blood type instead of B-, and planning her entire life down to even whom she would marry. Despite her life literally being set up for success, Nicole was never truly happy, this would all change when she met a young rabbit boy trapped in log, Richard.

Richard would change her life forever, making her realize that she should live her life the way she wants to. A montage later, Nicole and Richard would have a family, a dysfunctional one, but a happy one. However, something that Nicole always struggled with, but intensified with age and having a family, was her rage. One that everyone from the town to her family fears, and sometime's even she can't control. Despite all that, Nicole is still a loving mother who wants the best for her family, and while she does work at a dead in job, that literally pays her in peanuts, she is ultimately (for the most part) happy. So you better not mess with this mother or her family, especially her children, because if you do, you'll find yourself under the fire of Kickbuttus Hystericus, and trust me, five minutes is all she needs.

Son Chichi

Son Goku, I'm sure you know that name, The Boy Left Alone, The Super Saiyan, The Hope of the Omniverse (lol). This hero has saved the world, no, the universe many times over. He's challenged armies, bandits, robots, androids, space tyrants, magician's, cosmic evils, and even god's. There is no man or women this protector of all thing's good fear's, well actually there is one person that even The Legendary Super Saiyan fears; his wife, Son ChiChi.

Born to the fearsome Ox King, King of Fire Mountain, Chichi was raised as its princess. As a child, ChiChi was very shy, sweet, and often thought about who she would marry, and despite her father's ferocity being legendary, young Chichi didn't seem to inherit that same fury, in fights she is often scared and defeats her opponent while crying. However, what she lacked in might she made up for in heart, as shown in her first encounter with Goku, Chichi could ride The Flying Nimbus, meaning that she was pure of heart. Speaking of Goku, she would meet him in his quest to receive The Bansho Fan, and it was love at first sight (or at least that's how Chichi will tell the story). By the end of the adventure, Goku would even promise to marry her one day, which elated the young girl. Many years would fly by, and Chichi would hone her martial arts skill to impress her future husband to be, and would later enter herself in a tournament that Goku was attending, going in as anonymous to surprise him. However, Goku would not know who she was, infuriating Chichi. And y'know how the story goes, they have a fight and in one hit she went down, they got married, Goku put a baby in her, and now she just stays at home, cooks him dinner, and raises their kids....y'know maybe that could have been phrased better. Despite all that, Chichi would finally get that family with Goku she always wanted.

Though it isn't all sunshine and rainbows, Goku is well....Goku, and Chichi really needs him to get a normal paying job, but y'know he's more interested in fighting the best and training, and this sometimes includes they're children Gohan and Goten, whom Chichi want's to get an education, and it's during these moments of trying to reign in her family where we finally see that indeed, Chichi inherited Ox King fury, one that surpasses him, and even leaves Goku, Gohan, Goten, and even Piccolo and Vegeta trembling. In fact, I do theorize that Gohan inherited his legendary temper from his mother, not his father, and in someways, his Beast Form came from her. Chichi is strict and demanding, but she truly loves her family and they love her, and if anyone messes with them, she'll rip their world a ####### sunder.

Equipment

Nicole

Cartax serves as the Wattersons' family vehicle, In "The Routine" it is revealed that Cartax is sentient and can communicate with Richard, albeit in whinnies as though it is a horse. Cartax is incredibly durable, having rammed and been rammed by other cars with no apparent damage, smashed through brick walls, fell from heights as high as the top of an office building, and even managing to transport the family underwater, though the car was flooded afterward.

In "The Bumpkin", Cartax is fitted with a satnav, which can map out crazy and dangerous routes. Richard uses the routes multiple times in order to reach destinations at record speed. The keys to Cartax are shown to be able to start any vehicle that starts with a key. Richard uses them in "The Return" to start a car, crane, and truck.

The Helmet

The Helmet from the titular episode, is a tinfoil hat that is seemingly supernatural and able to make anyone who wears it impossibly lucky and fortunate. The obsession towards the Helmet brought the Watterson family into conflict with each other, and because of this, they decided to get rid of the helmet by the end of the episode.

Paintball Gun

Nothing special here, just a paintball gun.

Chichi

Helmet

Ah look at that, another helmet. It has a detachable blade on top, which can be thrown like a boomerang. It can also shoot lasers when she wills it.

Flying Nimbus

As a young girl, Chi-Chi was able to ride Goku's Flying Nimbus due to her pure heart. In the Dragon Ball anime filler, she is shown to be able to ride it as a young woman as she rode on it during the events that followed the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament several times.

Sword

It is seen in a comic relief scene in "Goku's Alive!!", where she holds it in anger in front of Master Roshi. The sword Chi-Chi holds looks much like the sword Gohan trains with while in Break Wasteland.

Bansho Fan

A fan that can create wind and storms. Chi-Chi uses it in Super Dragon Ball Z and Budokai Tenkaichi 3. In Super Dragon Ball Z, her basic attack with the fan is the Banana-leaf Fan (creates a slow-moving tornado that tracks her opponent), and she can perform two super attacks using it: the Tsuten Swirl (swirls up a giant wind) and the Feng Shui (creates a giant tornado). Chi-Chi also uses it as a Super Attack in Dokkan Battle. In The Breakers, Chi-Chi uses the Bansho Fan to save the custom protagonist from a group of Saibamen in Episode 2.

Power Pole

Chi-Chi uses Goku's Power Pole to fight in Super Dragon Ball Z. Her basic attack with it is the Power Pole Attack (a three hits combo), and her super attack is the Power Pole Tornado (she holds the pole over her head and spins it quickly).

OH SHIT SHE'S PACKING HEAT!

Abilities

Nicole

Body Control

Like many of the characters in Gumball, Nicole has complete control over her body. Nicole twisted her neck and ears around without any negative side-effects.

Shapeshifting

Toon Force

Like many of the characters in The Amazing World of Gumball, Nicole can use Toon Force in a variety of ways, including:

Nicole can control fire in a variety of ways like:

Mind Manipulation/Fear Manipulation

She can terrify a man to the point of forcefully aging him and with a stare can bring a full grown man to tears.

Chichi

Kaio-Ken

Now the wiki does call Red Blazing Aura, but c'mon, this obviously the Kaio-Ken. I think it's neat to think that Goku taught Chichi the Kaio-Ken. The Kaio-Ken is a technique invented by King Kai. It multiplies the user's ki for a "heartbeat" and turns their aura crimson - amplifying their power and speed to overcome previously stronger foes at the cost of extreme bodily recoil. Strong ki control is required in order to wield the Kaio-ken properly.

Chichi variant can decreases the damage taken by the user. This technique is also meant to depict Chi-Chi's anger and is thus used largely for comic relief.

Kiai

A technique where the user affects the air currents around him with ki to produce powerful shockwaves in order to strike the opponent. In the anime, Chi-Chi uses this against Maron after Maron called her an old lady.

Power Slugger

Chi-Chi fires a yellow spinning energy blast that has the shape of the blade on her helmet. This attack has a boomerang effect if it misses the opponent.

Other minuscule abilities:

  • Broom Brustle – A series of rapid strikes with a broom. Named in the Dragon Ball Z Collectible Card Game.

  • Maiden's Excitement – One of Kid Chi-Chi's Blast 1 in Budokai Tenkaichi 3.

Forms

Nicole

Rage Mode

This form of Nicole's is activated by rage, this form increases her strength, speed, and durability to an insane degree, though completely fueled by rage, Nicole is in complete control of herself by this form.

Rage Mode 2

Same as the last form, only this time Nicole takes on a more hulking appearance.

The Limit

This is Nicole at her absolute angriest, no control, all fury. She transforms into a violent monster with yellow eyes and sharp teeth. Now in the episode it featured in, Nicole was already pretty badly hurt before entering the form, so she wasn't able to show anything really impressive in this form. However, for the purposes of a DeathBattle, Nicole won't have that issue here.

Anime Form?

(Render by RayLuisHDX2)

In her fight with her childhood best friend/rival, Yuki, Nicole and Yuki took on a more anime esque appearance, in this appearance Nicole was shown the ability to manipulate Ki, and fire off powerful ki attacks, even the Kamehameha! She could also manipulate her Ki to create Ki barriers to defend herself from attacks. Whether this form is stronger than The Limit is unknown (I personally don't think so), but it does feel like the culmination of her arc as a character so I put it last. Also c'mon, you gotta admit this is cool right!

Experience/Intelligence

Nicole

Nicole is incredibly gifted. At the age of 8 she was studying to become a skilled martial artist, baseball player, violin player, chess player, track runner, and Japanese-styled drama actor. She won the Elmor Kumite at an extremely young age. Had she not married Richard, she would have won the karate tournament, graduated college, become extremely rich, become mayor of Elmore, and then a tyrannical future ruler of the world. Nicole is also a talented martial artist, as she has over twenty years worth of experience and is a match for Yuki Yoshida, who has spent several years training to become an even more skilled martial artist.

Chichi

Chichi is also incredibly smart as well. Academically, Chi-Chi was the one who tutored Gohan since his youth and pushed him to become a scholar, meaning she should have comparable, if not superior intellect. In terms of combat, she is incredibly proficient in martial arts, having trained under her father the Ox-King, who previously studied under the invincible Turtle Hermit as his #2 disciple, second to Grandpa Gohan, since childhood. After training for years on end, waiting for her reunion with Goku, her skills became so refined that Roshi himself considered her to be a master of martial arts, praising her ability and even stating her style and technique resembled his own. In between the Cell Games and the Buu Saga, she also taught her son Goten kumite and the basics of martial arts, enough to impress the adolescent Gohan.

Weakness

Nicole

Nicole has an extremely short temper that causes her to be blinded with rage and lose rational thinking most of the time, especially after being insulted, such as being called a "loser". This problem becomes worse with her The Limit Form as she loses all sense of reason, the poor girl women also suffers from emotional distress. Also don't look her up on google image's, it's bad.

ChiChi

She should has just let Goten fly he could had escape. Unlike Videl, Chichi cannot use ki in the traditional sense and thus cannot fly. She also has a tendency to overreact to situations.

Feats

Nicole

Overall

  • Even without years of constant training, she defeated Yuki who was constantly training
  • Raised Three Children and One Husband
  • Reconciled with her parents
  • Was able to keep The Rainbow Factory open and get the employees raises/a break

Power

Speed

  • Moves so fast that the background is blurry

Durability

  • Tanks Yuki Ki blast

ChiChi

Overall

  • Landed the strongest man alive
                                                Vegata: Arguably
  • Raised a family full of Saiyans
  • Finally got Goku to get a job
  • Successfully got Gohan to become a scholar
  • She did not "ruin" Gohan, he wanted to be a scholar, honestly she was really supporting his dreams when you think of it and it's not unreasonable to want your family to stay safe and become successful individual, all this to say I love Chichi, she reminds me of my own mom.
Power

  • Knocks the shit out of Krillin with her bag, as seen above

Speed

Durability

Scaling

Nicole

Pretty much the majority of Elmore and her family

Nobody in Elmore is really a Nobody, they all have done ridiculous things, and while I'm not sure if Nicole is the strongest character in the series, she's been shown to consistently be more powerful than the majority of it's citizens, including her family.

  • When Gumball summoned Richard in the fight against The Console, he grows planet sized(Planet Level if you buy that this is standard for Richard)

ChiChi

ChiChi is weird to scale, cause like outside of comedic situations, she's obviously nowhere near the top tiers of her verse. But she's still decently strong, and does scale to quite a few characters, especially those in OG Dragon Ball.

Universal Gumball?

We'll first off Nicole doesn't scale to Gumball with the remote, and two Richard was only able to warp reality across the universe due to having a job, which is so cosmically wrong that it messed with the natural order of things, Richard on his own is not universal.

But here's the big one, in the episode, The Countdown, after Darwin "continues the timer but unintentionally spins it to the far future (when the sun explodes). Gumball tries to go back in time, he sends himself and Darwin to the beginning of the universe" when the Big Bang happens. Now it's clear they are physically present when the Big Bang happens, they're floating in space and have to hold their breaths in space.

Now many who support this would say it's not an outlier as Gumball is a cartoon character, and a toon force character at that. They maybe hurt by things far less than the Big Bang, but that's just for comedic effect, like a Looney Tunes or Tom and Jerry. Plus the time effects in the episode did happen, they are physically there.

As for detractors, they believe it's too much of an outlier to count it. Also

This next part is from GimmeHardyHat from the DeathBattle Matchup reddit; "As you can see within the picture, the effect of the Big Bang stretched from minutes to billions of years to create our universe full of the planets we know. Yes Gumball and Darwin did go back in time to the place of the Big Bang, but they only witnessed it, and was never affected by it. The very clip of it explains why. Gumball and Darwin don't go to the Big Bang, instead they went back in time to the event OF the Big Bang but where Earth was going to be when it is born."

Each side has their reasoning for thinking on thing or the other, I guess it's up to a matter of opinion.

Verdicts

IVAN*Kirbo

Hi guys! Ivan*kirbo here, and here's who I think wins between Nicole from Gumball and Chichi from Dragon Ball!

Strength and Durability:

First things first, who punches the best? Both of these moms scale very weirdly so it'll be very hard to choose what I believe is right. Let's start with Nicole. Nicole should be able to upscale to most, if not all of the main cast, which includes Gumball and Darwin. Gumball and Darwin survived the Big Bang! But let's examine that feat a bit closer. The Big Bang they survived appeared to be from very far away. Since Gumball and Darwin were at the spot of Earth's birth, we'll have to calculate from there. Please correct me if I messed up here, but I heard people say this was a Moon-Planet level feat. And if we use Richard becoming the size of a planet (I know this was in the game only, but I believe this was more likely toon-force scaling, rather than the game itself making Richard become planet level), Nicole should be around planet level! Now for Chichi. I don't believe she scales to main Goku at ALL. Most of these seem like Goku is either holding back or the result of a joke that doesn't affect scaling. And the same goes for the rest of the cast. Honestly, I don't even buy her scaling to anything in Z! She survived a punch from Super Saiyan Goten, sure, but Goten had just turned Super Saiyan! And he wasn't actively trying to injure his own mother! With all that said, I 100% buy Chichi scaling to the original Dragon Ball cast, because of her spar with Goku in the 23rd tournament of power. Making her around Moon level. And since both of these two can take their own attacks, I do think they have the same Durability as their respective strengths. So planet level to Moon level. That means Nicole wins this round! But these levels were hard to figure out! It could easily go to Chichi! But my gut feeling says Nicole takes this. Now, let's move on to speed, shall we?

Speed:

Both of these two are extremely fast, enough to dodge lightning! But Nicole can scale to Gumball, who scales to Bobert in terms of speed. Bobert can kick a ball to the Sun in only a few seconds! Making Nicole MFTL! Nothing in the original Dragon Ball can keep up with that speed! Speed, easily goes to Nicole.

Abilities and hax:

Now this one, I believe Nicole should take. Her toon force is just busted, and she can do way more than whatever Chichi can throw out. And that instant ageing glare too is an insta-kill! I have to give this to Nicole.

IQ, experience, and skill:

The final round! This one is a bit tricky to decide! In terms of IQ, both aren't the dumbest, yet aren't the brightest either. But I would say Nicole is slightly smarter, due to being a bit more controlled and willing to make a plan. In terms of skill, I gotta say it's a tie. Both of them are master martial artists. Chichi being able to train Goten to the point where even Gohan got impressed and Nicole training since her days of youth in martial arts. In terms of experience now, I think Nicole has got this one! Nicole has just been training for much longer and has actually strived to fight before, unlike Chichi.

Verdict:

And there you go! While I may have not made this fight seem close, it actually was rather quite hard to find the verdict! Sure, I buy Nicole being much faster and having better hax, which could give her the win, then and there. But Gumball scaling is tricky. And Chichi could have certainly won, if I bought her scaling higher! But overall, I think Nicole has the experience, tenacity, speed, and hax to win this fight! Thanks for letting me do this! This sure was fun!

thedarkloremaster

There’s not a lot to this debate so let’s just speedrun this. ChiChi is a strong fighter in her own right, training from a young age, having the Kaio Ken and raising Saiyans is an impressive feat however Nicole is in a whole different ballpark, she is able to morph her body in any which way she wants and possibly being able to match ChiChi in combat skill definitely puts her in competition with ChiChi but once stats get put into the equation it’s over. While yes ChiChi could potentially destroy the moon and move faster than lightning Nicole is decimating people who can grow larger than a planet and destroying consoles that can create entire universes along with being able to move over a hundred times the SoL makes the winner kind of obvious Nicole can also just run ChiChi over with her car so the winner is obviously Nicole Waterson.

SonallyKingKataang

Happy Early Mother's Day, let's break down who wins in this bonus blog for the holiday. Let's start with stats, now if you only buy Nicole lower end feats, Chichi should take it. She's should be Moon level with the correct scaling, and Kaio-Ken should boost her stats a bit. Also, her greatest level of durability was taking a hit from Super Saiyain Goten, though it was his first time transforming so who knows how much power was coming from that kick. However, Nicole is always just gonna be faster, she broken the sound barrier on her own, and scaling to other's put's her at MFTL. Not only that, if you buy Richards stuff as plausible, Nicole would be around planet level, putting her higher than Chichi.

As for other factors, Chichi does have more stuff to throw at Nicole, and if you don't include The Helmet, than Chichi takes that department, The Bansho Fan would deal with Nicole Fire Abilities. However, Chichi has no counter to Nicole's age/fear manipulation. Chichi is probably the better fighter, and surprisingly has better control over her anger, however Nicole Ki Manipulation and Toon Force lets her counter that.

In the end Chichi put up a good fight, one better than expected, but Nicole superior speed, abilities, and possible power advantage gives her all she needed to bring Goku's wife to an Amazing end.

The winner is Nicole Watterson.
