Bitterness, anger, and betrayal, these are things many people have experienced and felt. There are some willing to go to the extreme to get revenge against not just those who wronged them, but also against the world that they believed shunned them. Our two combatants exemplify this, and today we'll determine who will win…a Death Battle!

Pretty simple, we’ll be sticking with Steven Universe, The Movie (duh), Future, and other canonical media for Spinel. Since IDW is canon to the games, Surge will receive the games, IDW, and all other canonical Sonic media.

“How you gonna forget with me around? I'm the source of all your problems! Don't pretend you want me here. What's your plan for me, huh? You gonna put me somewhere? You gonna leave me somewhere? You gonna leave me alone?”

Steven Universe has finally done it, he’s challenged The Diamond Authority, the oppressive leaders of Gem Kind, and won. Not only that, changing them, and their society for the better, establishing peace across the galaxy. For Steven, he was in the future, and it was looking bright.

This would all change with the appearance of a mysterious gem, with a mysterious past, this gem was Spinel. Once, 6,000 years ago, Spinel was made to be the best friend of Steven’s mother, Pink Diamond. With a jovial demeanor and a joyful attitude, Spinel aimed to make Pink happy, it was what she lived for. And for a time, she succeeded in her goal, but as Pink got older the joy she once felt with Spinel faded. 

When Pink was finally granted a colony on a planet called Earth, Spinel assumed this would be an entirely new planet to play on, however, Pink had a different game in mind. Here in the garden they played another game, Spinel would stand very still, and it would be so much fun. Spinel would stand still, as she was happy to listen, happy to play, happily watching as Pink drifted….away

And under an endless sky, counting the seconds, and standing alone, a thousand years would go by. And after happily wondering night after night, finally something, finally news would arrive. She would receive a message, Pink doesn’t exist anymore, she was survived by her son and all her brand new friends.

And isn’t that lovely, isn’t that cool, and isn’t that cruel, and did that make her a fool. She happily listened, happy to stay, happily watching her drift away. Spinel was no longer happy, she was furious. With bitterness and resentment in her gem, Spinel would gain a new style and a few new toys, and travel to Earth to not only destroy it, but also ruin Steven’s happily ever after, once and for all.

She would arrive on Earth, and confront Steven and The Crystal Gems, angered to learn that they didn’t know who she was, she would activate her Injector, which could destroy all organic life on Earth, and cut down the Gems with her Rejuvenator, returning them to their original state. Steven would be able to hit her with her own weapon, but not before Spinel was able to revert his powers as well.

Returned to her original state, Spinel would happily want to be Steven’s new best friend, and bring him joy in the same way she brought it to Pink, but overtime those feelings of abandonment resurfaced and eventually would return once Spinel regained her memories, initially believing she could start over, she mistakenly believe Steven was tricking her, and would wipe her memories again, Spinel would reignite her Injector and battle Steven once again.

But with his power regained, Steven would confront Spinel, but with the intent to fight, but with the intent to convince her that she could make a change, moved by his words, Spinel would realize how much she hates what she has become. With the injector destroyed, Spinel would decide to leave, believing she caused too much damage, the Diamonds would arrive, ready to confront to come leave with Steven, when he introduces Spinel to them, thus giving her the new friends he promised. 

Spinel would then say goodbye to Steven and leave Earth alongside the Diamonds, she would never forget his kindness, and when it came time for Steven to receive help, she would be there alongside his friends to help him.

Spinel was finally happy to be loved again. 

Surge

You don't get it! I was built to live in your shadow. It's in my blood, my bones, my brain. There is no freedom for me...NOT WHILE YOU'RE STILL ALIVE! Dr. Starline was tired. Tired of the constant battles between his idol, the maniacal mad scientist Dr. Eggman, and the world renowned hero Blue Blur, Sonic The Hedgehog. Believing this constant battle between good and evil was stifling the evolution of the world, dubbing it the “Sonic Cycle”, Starline would begin Operation: Remaster. A plan to conquer the world by controlling its hero-villian dynamics. While initially planning to use robots, Starline would realize that power and obedience would mean nothing in a world full of chaos and unpredictability. He would decide to take things further by harnessing the will and ingenuity of a living being and fuse them with his initial designs. He would acquire two regular citizens, and outfit them with cybernetic enhancement, one in particular would receive the bio-data of Neo Metal, Shadow, and Sonic himself. This would lead to the creation of Surge the Tenrec, born to replace Sonic The Hedgehog. Surge and her fellow cybernetically enhanced ally, Kit (made to replace Tails), would be subjected to multiple tests by Starline to prepare themselves for their roles, however soon Surge would become fed up with this. Starline would continue to erase their memories, but soon she and Kit would soon catch on to this. Surge and Kit would eventually find Starline’s video logs and would discover the truth. Starline had subjected them to hypnotic sessions where Starline imprinted them with fake, intense hatred for Sonic and Tails, to replace them.  Moreso, using codes from Belle, he would overwrite Surge and Kit's existing personalities with fabricated ones, allowing him to control their thoughts, memories and desires, alongside making them susceptible to hypnosis. Angered by this, Surge would decide to destroy every hero and villain, present and future, if they can’t have a past, no one gets to have a future. They would play along with Starline’s plan, and use him so they could confront Sonic and Tails, they’d even get the chance to battle and defeat Metal Sonic. Eventually, Kit would battle Tails, and Surge would get the chance to confront Sonic herself. She would reprimand Sonic for not killing his enemies. As they battle, she would tell him that she would end it all, as it was what they deserved, unfazed, Sonic explained that he had been in situations with those who were wronged by the world and wanted to destroy it before, Surge would claim that this was who she was, and while Sonic understood this; however, since he did not know her story, he was not in much of a position to judge and preferred to give Surge a second chance.  Surge believed this to be naivety, but Sonic explained that he lives for the moment, he enjoys its thrills and adventures, and wished for everyone to have the same freedom he has; if he ended Surge's life, she would not have the chance to do so. Surge, however, seeing that she probably did not have much of a life in the world before being outfitted with cybernetics, Surge still saw herself as an outcast. As such, she agreed that she had the freedom to do whatever she wanted.  Sonic would acknowledge her choice to do this, but would state that he would stop her if she tried to steal others freedom, he would stop her. Surge would try to end Sonic, but found herself dangling from the edge of a chasm, instead of accepting Sonic’s help, she would zap him and fall into the chasm with debris falling onto her. Surge would survive however, and would take Eggman’s Dynamo Cage, using its power to challenge Sonic again. However, it would cause her to hallucinate Starline, belittling her, though Kit would be there to comfort her.  Surge would also take the Wisp from Whisper, to fuel it and her power, and fight Sonic once more. Having learned of her past, Sonic would plead with her to take her freedom, due to the fact that Starline had died in an encounter with Eggman. Tearfully she would proclaim she couldn't, not till Sonic was dead, she would attempt to electrocute Sonic to death, but the Cage would overload, knocking her out.  Kit would take Surge, saving her from Metal and Eggman. Surge and Kit would take residence in one of Starline’s Bases, eventually being approached by Clutch The Opossum to bring down The Restoration.  Initially, Surge and Kit were down to do this, but overtime after spending time with the Restoration, and even getting praise during a race and being looked up by people for fighting against The Phantom Rider, especially by a little girl. Surge decided to do things differently, and without spoiling things, perhaps Surge is finally on the path…of a hero. Equipment Spinel Rejuvenator The Rejuvenator, possesses the ability to remove Gems memories, returning to their original state, the effects are not permanent, as long as the Gem remember their true selves, it also has no effect on non-Gems, with no physical damage being seen. Injector Spinel’s Injector was designed to inject a toxic biological substance into a planet, which destroys all life it comes in contact with. Surge The Dynamo Cage The Dynamo Cage, created by Eggman, allows Surge to absorb energy from any object, like Chaos Drives, and Wisps. Even gaining Wisp abilities once she absorbs them. However, it can overload, especially with the way Surge uses it. Extreme Gear Bike A bike Surge uses for Extreme Gear Racing, pretty cool right? Abilities Spinel Gem Physiology   Due to being a Gem, Spinel gets an advantage in physicality over us lowly humans, they can handle extreme temperatures and can adapt to different types of gravity. Gems also possess the ability to retreat back into their gems, if they sustain enough damage. Giving them the chance to reform, which can be instantaneous or take weeks.  Gems also have great control over their bodies, they can transform the shape and size of limbs, replicate organs, and shapeshifting. They also contain a storage, which has been said to be “infinite in size”, Gems use these to contain items and weapons. Spinel uses this to contain her Scythe.  Bubbling Bubbling is the process of encasing a specific object inside a bubble via contact or energy projection, and either takes it with them or transfers it to a different location.  Items and Gems that are bubbled remain inactive until released.  Elasticity  While all Gems have great control of their bodies, none have the level of control that Spinel has. Inspired by old-fashioned cartoons, Spinel can stretch her limbs and torso to great lengths and inflate body parts to strengthen her attacks.   She can coil her extended limbs to form a spring with an inflated fist at the end. She even displayed the ability to become as flat as the ground and slither across it, in an almost semi-liquid like state.  She's even able to coil one of her fingers into making a type of horn that activates and deactivates her injector. There is seemingly no limit as to how far she can stretch, as she can extend her limbs so far that they can wrap around something as big as Monster Steven.(13:13) Rubber Physiology  Due to her powers, Spinel's body is similar to rubber. This grants her the ability to jump great distances, and bounce off surfaces. While initially hard to deal with, once an opponent gets used to her powers, they can exploit her physiology and use it against her. Giant Fist As said before, Spinel’s elastic abilities let her extend her limbs, and inflate her fist, allowing for much harder hitting punches. Flight Instead of two tails, Spinel can rotate her legs to fly, as seen above. Twister Dash Due to her elastic properties, Spinel can quickly dash in the style of a twister. Figure-eight Gotta go fast! Spin-Dash Yeah we're cooking up something with this fight. Surge Cybernetic Enhancements

Dr Starline outfitted Surge and Kit with some impressive cybernetics, she possesses a multitude of powers derived from Power Cores, Surge contains the bio-data of Sonic, Shadow, and Neo Metal Sonic. 

He also provided cellular upgrades from the Metal Virus, giving her tremendous durability allowing her to take a beating from the Egg Breaker with little more than bruises, heck, Surge implies Starline gave her some kind of healing factor.

Electrokinesis

Due to Starline hardwiring electromagnetic propulsion in her body, Surge's most well-known ability is her power to control and manipulate electricity. She has the ability to generate electricity of varying intensity and project it as small lightning bolts or sparks. 

Surge can generate enough electricity to ignite flora, cause various electricity-powered devices to overload, surround herself with an aura of electricity to attack her enemies.

Super Speed

Unsurprisingly, due to her backstory and nature as a Sonic Character, Surge has Super Speed, but unlike many others, she owns her claim to speed. She was specifically made to rival the heavy hitters in this category, including Sonic.

She can cause Sonic Boom’s, create whirlwinds,and fight evenly with the top tiers of speed like Metal and Sonic, matching them blow for blow, even able to outmaneuver/out smart Sonic. Surge claims that she can move at the speed of light, which considering the scaling chain, is probably true.

Spin Dash

A variant of the Spin Attack, which Surge can perform, The Spin Dash is where the user blasts forward with a revved-up Spin Attack from a stationary position. As seen above, Surge can combine her Spin Dash with her electrokinesis power.

The Homing Attack

This technique allows the user to swerve while in midair, automatically zeroing in and striking a nearby enemy with a midair Spin Attack. As with the Spin Dash, Surge can coat her in electricity.

Tornado Attack

With her powers, Surge can become like a Tornado, and quickly dash towards her opponents for a fast attack.

Color Powers

When absorbing the Wisp with The Dynamo Cage, Surge gained the Color Powers of the creature. A boost in power from the Pink Wisp, the cubes from the blue wisp, and optic blast from the cyan wisp, which eventually Surge learned to use simultaneously. 

As said before though, extended use of the Wisp like this will lead to an overload of the cage leaving Surge knocked out.

Garnet, Pearl, and Amethyst

The Crystal Gems, in their first battle, Spinel practically blitzed the Gems and took them down with ease. By their second fight the Gems did considerably better, however, Spinel was still holding her own pretty well, and was more unhinged during that fight, due to events that took place, compared to the Gems who had retained their memories and were prepared for battle. 

Scaling is acceptable.

• Garnet cracked open Peridot ship, this ship crashed into Earth completely unharmed (84 Megatons of TNT)

• Garnet destroyed part of a mountain with one punch

• Garnet can resist the force exerted inside of black hole which was planet-sized (63.5 million metric tons)

• Pearl can fly through an asteroid field (44.4% SoL)

• Amethyst can use her whip before electricity could channel through and shock her

The other Crystal Gems 

Spinel should scale easily to Peridot and Bismuth, and you can argue scaling to Lapis through, Spinel being able to keep up with and fight Steven, though at the very least she should downscale.

• Bismuth could poof and crack Lapis gem with one punch (man), though Lapis was caught off guard

• Together the Gems staggered Blue Diamond

• Peridot has drones which can take hits which can shake Beach City all the way to the Sahara Desert

• Lapis can fly from Earth all the way to the edge of the Milky Way (93,414.5 times FTL)

• Lapis briefly restrained Blue Diamond 

• Lapis could lift the entire Ocean (35.2 Petatons of TNT-11.4 ZETTATONS OF TNT)

• The Crystal Gems could keep up with a bot who could jump between galaxies (7 billions times FTL-86 billions time FTL)

Steven (Debatably)

Now at first glance, Spinel should get that sweet Steven scaling. However, in their first fight, one could argue Steven was more caught off guard and wasn’t prepared for an encounter with Spinel, but I digress. 

By their second fight, Steven wasn’t really trying to fight Spinel and was more on the defensive, though through they’re exchange of blows, Spinel could keep up relatively fine with Steven, and during that fight Spinel was more unhinged, and Steven was getting to her as the fight went on, so it's debatable if she was giving it her all, especially more towards the end of the fight. So we’ll grant her scaling, at the very least downscaling.

• A weakened Steven could briefly lift Spinel’s injector (275831.49 Tons)

• Steven could evade laser from many directions (0.29c)

• Steven can react to things when warping (34.08 trillion c)

• Steven is superior to gems who could withstand being hit by The Roaming Eye (274 Megatons of TNT)

• When used by his mother, Steven’s shield could defend against The Diamond Blast (24.11-192.89 kilofoe) (VERY DEBATABLE SEE BEFORE VERDICTS)

Surge

Metal Sonic

Surge and Metal have had a few encounters, Surge has biodata based on Neo Metal Sonic. In their first fight, Surge with Kit’s help was able to defeat him, in their second encounter, she was able to fight him and Sonic on her own, even knocking him out at one point. So Surge scaling is fine.

• Metal flies from Little Planet to Earth (Mach 58-3.57c)

• Sonic and Metal destroy a massive stalactite (200 Kilotons TNT)

• As Neo Metal, he moves faster than Sonic

• Neo Metal was whoopin Sonic and Knuckles ass

Shadow

Prolly about to fight Mewtwo again

The Ultimate Lifeform himself ladies and gentlehogs, while Surge has never personally encountered Shadow, her cybernetics were outfitted with Bio-Data from Shadow, given how equal Sonic and Shadow are, and the fact Shadow beat Metal Sonic twice, Surge should at the very least downscale.

Now hopefully this time he whoops Mewtwo’s ass.

• Shadow brings down the Death Egg

• Shadow Chaos Spear brings down Super Neo Metal Sonic

• Shadow is able to beat Metal Overlord

• Shadow Chaos Control reacts to the Paradox Prism explosion

• Sonic alongside Shadow beat Ultimate Emerl who absorbed energy from The Final Egg Buster, which was capable of destroying an entire cluster of stars (Multi Solar System) 

• The Final Egg Blaster can reach a cluster of stars in seconds (6 Billion c-60 Billion c)

Sonic

Like Shadow and Metal before him, Surge was outfitted with the Bio-Data of Sonic The Hedgehog. Unlike with Shadow though, Surge has battled Sonic more than once. Holding her own quite well, even coming close to killing him. Not only that, she’s shown the ability to outsmart and get one over the Blue Blur. 

• Fought Dark GAIA in base form who broke open the planet and was much stronger (7.2 yottatons of TNT)

• Briefly outran a black hole in Colors

• Did outrun one in Shuffle

• Sonic can run interstellar distances

• Sonic broke the chain link connected to Little Planet (3.282 teratons of TNT)

• Defeated Master Core Abis, who could create black holes (6.5 FOE)

• Sonic survived the explosion of the Paradox Prism, which shattered the universe (Debatable)

Experience

Spinel

Despite being at least over 6,000 years old, Spinel didn’t actively engage in combat, well…till the movie. Sure she had great control over her abilities, but for 6,000 years Spinel was just standing in one place. 

However, this actually makes what she accomplished even more impressive, as her first battle had her defeating three of The Crystal Gems, and holding her own against Steven pretty well. Garnet and Pearl participated in a war that lasted centuries, and the Gems and Steven have been on countless adventures since then.

For Spinel to drop in and wreck their shit first go is extremely impressive, she is also quite intelligent and is very creative with the use of her powers.

Surge

Surge is quite the capable fighter, outfitted with the bio-data of Sonic, Shadow, and Neo will ensure that. She was trained by Starline rigorously to battle tons of Eggman robots so that she could one day surpass Sonic, Starline even made sure she could perfectly emulate Sonic combat profile.

Because of this, Surge can match seasoned fighters, including Sonic, being able to match him blow for blow, even leaving him tired. 

Moreso, while Surge may not be book smart, she’s quite clever in battle, she’s shown the ability to be able to outsmart Sonic in battle, and even tricked him into attacking her so she could steal the device concealing his identity.

Weakness

Spinel

Spinel is an intelligent fighter no doubt, but she does have a few things holding her back. While (pre end of movie and future), she can become unhinged when reminded of her past, also while her abilities can initially be difficult to deal with, with more time her opponents usually learn how to combat and exploit them.

Surge

Surge is a great fighter, but she has some serious flaws. Surge is all action, no plan. While she is willing to listen to others' (mainly Kit)ideas from time to time, she prefers to go in guns blazing, which can lead her into trouble. Due to her past trauma as well, she’s prone to intense anger, and even though her Cage was overloading continuously used it, even though it was hurting her just so he could kill Sonic. Due to Starline meddling, susceptible to hypnosis though she has showings of powering through it. 

She needs therapy tbh.

Before the Verdict

Does Spinel really scale to Steven?

As said earlier, arguments could be made that by their second fight, Steven wasn’t really trying to fight Spinel, though they exchanged of blows, Steven was more so trying to comfort her, and even in their first fight, Steven was caught off guard and wasn’t prepared for battle, however given that Spinel was able to withstand Steven’s attacks, and hurt him at some points, I do believe she scales to Steven in some regards.

The real issue is the Diamond Blast. As you know Rose’s Shield was able to withstand the Diamond Trio’s blast, however, I’m sure I don’t need to tell you this, but Spinel doesn’t scale to all three of The Diamond Trio. Spinel could never even crack Steven shield. 

Maybe you can downscale, but even that's skeptical, especially when Spinel only fights Pre Pink Form Steven.

Universal Base Sonic?

In the beginning of Sonic Prime, Sonic seemingly survives the explosion from the Paradox Prism, which shattered the universe. He even takes it point black, and is fine after the explosion splits reality into five alternate universes. Arguments against this being, that it wasn’t an explosive force, but rather it manipulated space-time and reality.

One could argue that there are multiple pieces of meteorites and other possible elements that look like destroyed remnants of planets, after the Prism explodes. Visually there is the implication of an explosive outburst, characters do get launched when this occurs. Perhaps it could be a result stemming from an explosive force and space-time/reality manipulation, since it shattered the universe and created alternate dimensions with shattered/alternate versions of the cast.

Then again another argument is that this is simply an outlier.That this way above the Base Form Characters field of power, however, Sonic has defeated those like Erazor Djin, who could absorb the half of the Arabian Knights, and then there's Master Core, who could create black holes with infinite density.

Overall both sides have arguments, so ultimately I choose to leave this up to interpretation. Thanks again to the team behind Chaos vs Kyogre for this part.

Verdicts 

Cyber Deadsonic

That's right, I'm back! Here to infest more knowledge for this verdict again!

Stats

Ok, so let's get this over with here, spinel did truly have the guts to upscale Steven and the gems with ease by herself, also given the fact the big gem Garnet cracked open mountains and even damaged Peridot's ship that was crashing down on earth landing around 84 Megatons, but there’s no doubt she also get other higher end feats like Lapis uplifting the ocean waves from earth all the way into space that has a whopping 35.2 Petatons to 11.4 ZETTATONS! 

To top it off, she is also a speedy gem that also tagged other gems and poofed them too (Except Steven), so here we go. Pearl was the gem that crossed and flew through the Asteroid field within 44.4% The Speed of Light vs Lapis crossing through the milky way… Well, from earth to the edge of the Milky way within mere seconds that lands her at around 93.4K times FTL vs the crystal gems that did that, but chased or kept up with a bot that was galaxy hopping over and over crossing boundaries within Billions FTL, Specifically 7 Billion to 86 Billions FTL! 

That's too damn fast, but Steven has it beat given that he can react to certain stuff and events when warping way past FTL with Trillions, specifically 34.08 Trillions, and spinel has upscaled to all this alone. Surge however gets nutso from here on knowing that feats for sonic can get crazy and questionable. She has upscaled to Sonic more times than not as well as others like Shadow, Metal, etc. Sonic of course has fought and scaled to Dark Gaia in base that was awaken and broke open the planet like an egg in 7 pieces which at minimum gets to around 7.2 Yottatons, Broke the earth, this creature did, MMMMMMMMMMM (I had to).

Anyway, it's also not far off that the Eclipse cannon scaling makes a grand return, given that it pierced through the stars in the solar system in mobius, easily land in Multi Solar System level (Relook in Cream vs Milla blog for more info), and speed isn't an issue… except when it's controversial,  Surge already kept up with sonic, even when amped and claimed She's FTL (Which she is) there's no question where SO MANY FTL AND MFTL SCANS OF BASE SONIC WERE SPEWED LIKE WILDFIRE, 

Ahem..

Sure there are so many Args where Sonic surpassed FTL and even MFTL speeds. The Black Hole feat, the checkpoint radar in unleashed, the hyper go on energy thing, Null Space, etc etc. Debatably speaking, if you buy those and surge massively upscaling, she can be one speedy mf. Forgot to mention that the beam from the cannon gets her to 6 Billion to 60 Billion c FTL speeds as a High end. 

Durability is self explanatory as it scales to AP, but all and all, Spinel could blitz Surge depending on where you buy speed for surge, but the scythe gem couldn't get a chance to harm Surge within the low to high ends per se. Also, the stuff for Steven and Sonic that's super debatable, Spinel with 24 to 193 kilofoe AP would still be too weak compared to Uni Surge due to Sonic Prime with the Paradox Prism that affects several universe zones within the power alone possessed by Nine.

Arsenal and Abilities

This is without a doubt a big factor for Surge. Don't get me wrong, Spinel has some good kits in her hand that give her an edge, such as elasticity and having a rubber body, plus being a hard to crack gem that she can morph weapons from thin air and use it to clobber or slice her opponents with ease. 

Not to mention she also copies the moves from the blue blur that will piss Surge off and do an attack tornado in the style of Crash Bandicoot. Surge has way more, plus electricity which can dose up her targets within millions volts or more, can copy the spindash thing Spinel does and can do the homing attack on her so much more, and get super amped with the wisps with Rainbow power, but with death included. 

Granted Surge will struggle to physically harm Spinel due to her elastic physiology, but thunder could do the trick as she can shock her body so much it could rubber burn her out, plus with the extra power ups that can amp up her power tenfold or more, not to mention Spinel couldn't poof out surge since that tenrec is not a gem. NLF aside, Surge has a bit more stuff to get out of, even if she is limited compared to Spinel, hopefully she can't be poofed out of existence this time! 

Surge takes this one.

Tertiary Factors

Both are evenly balanced of Experience to say the least, if not the fact Spinel is well over 6,000 FUCKING YEARS OLDER THAN THIS TENREC, HOLY FUCK! But sad to say that Spinel has an edge for this and for IQ as well. 

Granted Spinel was around with Pink Diamond for 6 millennia until her abandonment during the wars of the gems still in effect, she was left broken, but had some combat in her surprisingly since her first combat encounter with the Crystal Gems that she folded them with no effort. 

However, all 6 Millennia were spent standing in one place, so she didn't get much to do outside of the dome? I'll take this with a small grain of salt. Surge has some good experience due to the fact that she and Kiit were trained by Dr. Starline countless times against robots to become the perfect Sonic killer against the blue hedgehog. 

No doubt she has enhanced bio-data within learning upon the combat data against Sonic, Shadow, and Neo MS, that adds up to some knowledge of battle, not to mention that she tussled with Sonic and was shown to tire him out and stagger him, especially when amped and that he was in a weakened state too which is mighty impressive. Stamina isn't too far fetched, both got crazy high stamina to keep up with their opponents, but Spinel is still limitless and can fight without getting tired vs surge that has been shown to be exhausted at times against her battles with sonic. 

Spinel takes this category. R.I.P

Final verdict

I can say Surge gets the win for this one depending on the high end feats by stats. There have been some times where Spinel can tag and harm Surge by chance since Trillions > Billions, but Surge can still stonewall with so many shock therapy attacks and color forms with so much power output that this gem can get cracked open by high end AP. 

Spinel also can last for long due to her limitless stamina so she doesn't get tired easily, but given Surge operates, it's only a matter of time before this Magenta gem gets shattered by one angry Tenrec. In the end, Spinel does have the stamina with some good experience along with her elastic body, but Surge's speed, strength, and shocking power output gave her enough juice to zap the gem for it to go poof. 

Surge gets my vote for this verdict!

Alright, let's start off with these badass maniacs with their previous innocent lives that left them to be in rage and altered because of their misunderstanding purpose.

For stats, both have pretty impressive strength feats on their own. Spinel defeated the Crystal Gems in their first fight with ease while singing a song and she can certainly damage Steven enough to make him bleed. She even blitzed said Crystal Gems with Rejuvenator and can keep up with Steven in both of their fights. Spinel has fought Garnet, who can resist the force exerted within a planet-sized black hole, and she can scale to Lapis who lifted all of the Earth’s ocean into space which both would get a Planet level range. Spinel should be in similar speed to a gem robot, who can jump between galaxies that got calced 86 billions times FTL and should scale to Steven’s warp reaction which got calced to 34.08 trillions times FTL. 

For Surge, it’s easy to say that she can keep up with the Blue Blur himself given the fact she was made to be on par with Sonic and has traded blows with him and she even held her own against Metal Sonic who fought Sonic multiple times. She should at least scale to Shadow with her Bio-Data, who defeated Ultimate Emerl that absorbed the Final Egg Buster that has the power to destroy a cluster of stars which gets to Multi Solar System range. 

Surge should likely scale to Sonic, who defeated Master Core Aibis who created black holes that have the energy of 6.5 FOE. In terms of speed, Surge has kept up with Sonic’s speed many times as she traded blows with him while moving at fast speeds. Sonic outran a black hole in that one time in Shuffle and can react to Emerl’s attacks, who his Final Egg Blaster energy can reach through a cluster of stars in seconds which got calced to 60 billions times FTL. 

Now, Spinel power might be impressive in terms of scaling but Surge easily takes it by being far more powerful via the Final Egg Blaster star feat that blows Spinel’s Crystal Gem scaling out of the water. Even if you are being generous in giving her the Diamond Blast feat, which is very debatable as shown in the explanation above, the Final Egg Blaster still exceeds the Diamond feat by being an Exafoe of energy to a Kilofoe blast. 

Although, Spinel also had Surge beat in speed scaling like Steven warp reaction being trillions times FTL to the Final Egg Blaster being billions times FTL but if using Shadow’s Chaos Control reaction time to the explosion of Paradox Psism, it might lessen the speed gap a bit. This would make for Spinel having a chance to blitz Surge but considering the huge power gap between the two, that will also make Spinel very difficult to harm Surge. 

Overall while Spinel is indeed faster than Surge by a decent margin, Surge’s strength is a whole other level, considering the wide power gap has a stronger force than the speed comparison in a good amount. Surge takes the stats category in a close bout.

For their abilities and arsenal, it’s no slouch to say that Spinel is gonna be hard to deal with via her rubber physiology range and elasticity trickery for Surge. But unfortunately, this is where Surge takes everything else. Surge is better at closing Spinel’s range attacks as she can do homing attacks and even do a spin dash with an electrical effect that Spinel can’t replicate even with her ‘’Spin Dash’’ being inferior to it. 

Surge has greater AOE via electrokinesis that not only can bring a great intensity of damage to Spinel by a snap of her fingers, she has an aura of it that will make it hard for Spinel to harm her without getting damage on contact. Surge’s Color Powers boost widens her power advantage even more and blue wisp’s cubes and optic blast can grant her the field advantage simultaneously enough for Spinel to get knocked out in a few hits. Spinel Rejuvenator likely won’t work on Surge due to not being a pure gem and even half gem like Steven had shrugged off the effects, therefore making the Rejuvenator useless in this fight. 

However, Spinel has the Injector that was capable of spreading toxic biological substances to destroy all life on the planet. And considering Surge doesn’t show this type of resistance means that she will be vulnerable to its toxic effects that could knock her out for good. But it’s situational that requires Spinel to keep Surge from far away and Surge wouldn’t want that to happen since she prefers to fight her head on and would likely destroy the Injector itself with electrokinesis whenever she wanted. 

Spinel’s bubbling won’t work either since first off, she doesn’t show creating a bubble as big as Surge, and second Spinel didn’t use this ability offensively since she only used it to do goofy ahh stuff with Pink Diamond. Lastly, Surge has a minor healing factor as she can take physical damage and heal fast to make a good counter on Spinel’s brute force. Also did I mention Surge had an extremely cool bike? never seen Spinel having one. Surge takes this category.

Now last but not least their experience and skills. Spinel had lived for 6,000 years by playing with Pink Diamond while Surge is typically your average Sonic’s age. However, Spinel didn’t spend nearly all of those years on fighting since she has been standing waiting in the garden for Pink Diamond to return, which lasted thousands of years until the events of the movie. But you could argue Spinel has fought against Crystal Gems who fought in the great gem war for at least a millennia while Surge fought Sonic who spent years fighting Eggman on many adventures. 

Surge has better training and fights a wider array of foes like tons of Eggman's robots and Metal Sonic to match Sonic and surpass him by emulating his combat profile alongside Shadow and Neo since Sonic is a pretty skilled fighter over the years. Both are quite intelligent as Spinel is very creative with her abilities while Surge is able to outsmart Sonic and even tricked him into giving the device to her. 

So both should have similar street smarts in combat. Spinel definitely has way better stamina where Gems are not usually tired in their long fights in the war while Surge has been shown to be exhausted in some occasions due to being overwhelmed before and had limits of her color powers. I would give this category to Spine but it is close.

So who do I think will win in this fight? I think Surge would take the competition. While Spinel has some abilities mixed with her greater speed that would give Surge some trouble and has the stamina to keep the fight longer, Surge simply takes everything else like being much stronger (even with using high ends for both) that Spinel’s speed would probably not close the gap, is more dangerously versatile with her rainbow powers and more electrical attacks,and with her minor healing factor means that she could trick Spinel into getting up close and manage to land few lucky hits on her mixed with her electromagnetic empowerment to destabilize her completely. Rejuvenator is a double edge sword in a fight like this and the Injector might take time to prepare depending on the timing even when Surge can destroy it with her greater AP. Spinel might be a dangerous gem for Surge with her speed and stamina to outlast her if she gets tired enough; but Surge has greater electrical strength, more powerful power ups, and devastating energy output with better training that is enough for Spinel to poof in a good strike. The treasure gem tries to drift the tenrec away but shockingly for her, Surge changed her colors into a sad future. The winner is Surge the Tenrec.

Without further ado, let’s talk Sonic again!

Starting with equipment, Spinel's Rejuvenator offers a nice temporary advantage by resetting Gems' memories. However, this has no effect on Surge, a non-Gem, and its overall usefulness is situational. The Injector, while deadly to planets, wouldn't come into play against Surge in a direct combat scenario. In contrast, Surge's Dynamo Cage gives her a massive boost by allowing her to absorb energy from various sources and even gain Wisp abilities. Although the risk of overloading the Dynamo Cage is present, Surge's ability to harness the power of multiple Wisps in tandem significantly amps her strength, providing her with capabilities Spinel sadly cannot match.

Abilities help tilt the scale more in Surge’s favor. While Spinel’s Gem physiology makes her resilient, capable of regenerating after being poofed, and the gift that is her infinite stamina. Spinel’s elasticity and rubber physiology are notable and give her an edge in maneuverability. She can stretch her limbs to incredible lengths and shape-shift, making her a hard target to hit. One issue. When Surge cn just cover herself with Electricity to the brim (Something that is very much conductible by rubber) it presents some unfortunate walls to climb here. Surge’s electrokinesis will likely disrupt Spinel's elasticity to some extent.

In terms of experience, Spinel may be over 6,000 years old, but the bulk of that time was spent in isolation. While her debut fight in the movie is impressive, defeating seasoned Crystal Gems and holding her own against Steven, Surge’s rigorous training under Dr. Starline makes her a far more seasoned combatant. Surge has been programmed to replicate the fighting styles of Sonic, Shadow, and fucking Metal Sonic. The pure dynamism of Surge’s combat style, honed to rival Sonic’s, allows her to quickly adapt to Spinel's tricks and stuff pretty damn easily.

(Slyly ignores Universal Base Sonic cause he doesn’t agree)

Finally, when it comes to scaling, Surge's downscaling from Eggman's robots gives her strength on a multi-solar system level. Spinel, scaling from Rose’s shield, might reach similar levels on paper, but that’s until you look at the numbers behind the calcs and realize that Surge’s overall stats suggest she packs more raw power.Speed would be her greatest asset here for Spinel as she is around 568x faster, but Spinel doesn’t have a way past Surge’s better durability and probably wouldn’t think to use her method of incapacitation, which I think Surge could just…break out off. Plus, Surge’s ability to enhance herself by absorbing energy from Wisps using the Dynamo Cage allows her to exceed her normal limits in battle. It’s not infinite stamina, but it’ll do.

While Spinel's unique physiology, creative use of elasticity, and resilience make her a formidable opponent, Surge's combination of extreme speed, durability, electrical prowess, and combat experience gives her the upper hand. Surge’s ability to outsmart and overwhelm her opponents in battle, combined with her stronger scaling, suggests that she would come out on top in this fight.

I guess you could say this Gem’s amount of Spin L’s, just SURGED!

So to start out with the basics Surge should be taking strength and defense while Spinel should be taking speed, crazy I know. Breaking down these stats, the best that Spinel can reasonably scale to is Lapis lifting the ocean which is basically nothing in comparison to Sonic and Shadow beating ultimate Emerl who had enough power to blow up star clusters. 

However, Spinel could potentially scale to Steven who is likely comparable to Rose stopping the Diamond’s blast however Surge has this beat with the Paradox Crystal’s explosion so it wouldn’t matter. However in speed Spinel can match Crystal Gems who can fight on par with a Robot that can jump between galaxies which should be beating the Final Egg Blaster reaching star clusters on both low ends and high ends. 

For experience, Surge should take it mostly due to the fact that she has been in more than two fights in her life. Spinel is older but that doesn’t mean she has had any formal training or even been in a fight before the events of the movie. 

For abilities and arsenal Surge should also confidently take this. Spinel’s scythe is effective on Gems and is pretty piss poor on everything else so Surge’s dynamo cage and Air Gear gives her the better arsenal. For abilities, while Spinel’s stretchy limbs are certainly useful, they just don’t stack up to Surge’s electrokinesis or the abilities that the Dynamo Cage offers. 

In the end Spinel is just left shocked at this blowout: the winner is Surge the Tenneric

Yes, this is my new name, and yes this ship is better than Sonamy and Sonally, cry. Anyways, let's break this matchup down. Stats wise it surprised me, not in Ap, it’s no shock (lol) Surge took this, but Spinel actually took speed, quite handily. So that’s cool.

When it comes to arsenal, the Rejuvenator would be cool, if it was affected by non-gems, the Injector would be dope, but that's very situational, and very unlikely that Surge would be hit by it, not to mention it takes too long. Meanwhile, The Dynamo Cage provides Sage extra strength, and if given Wisp, extra abilities applicable in combat.

Spinel elasticity and rubber physics would provide great maneuverability, and would definitely trip Surge up at first, especially with the greater speed, her base abilities are her best chance at winning. But Surge’s own powers are just as great, and Surges smarts in combat would allow her to adapt.

Finally, Spinel is older, but she spent a thousand years just standing in one place, meanwhile Surge has received active training from Starline, and was outfitted with the bio-data from the best fighters in her world, and has regularly proved her combat ability against Metal and Sonic. Though this is not so say Spinel is lacking, even with her lack of training, she beat Steven and The Gems, Garnet and Pearl are veterans of a thousand year war, she’s very creative and intelligent in her own right. So by no means is she getting outclassed in terms of skill.

In the end, Spinel did take speed, and is by no means outclassed in skill, Surge’s better training, power, and arsenal, should net her a win. Looks like this gem has been shocked,

Connections:

Two individuals who were made for one purpose (Spinel was made to be a playmate for Pink and Surge was made to be a replacement for Sonic), both would be betrayed by the one they were made for (Pink Diamond and Dr. Starline) after learning a terrible truth (Spinel learned through Steven's message that Pink tricked her into staying at the Garden which she did for 6,000 years, and Surge learned that Dr. Starline stole her and crafted her whole life and backstory for his own gain).

Both would be angered by this betrayal and decided to take out their anger on the whole world and destroying it, while also trying to destroy a hero and all his friends for whom they blamed (Steven and Sonic), and use weapons/inventions to achieve these goals (Rejuvenator/Injector and Dynamo Cage).

They would ultimately fail, and start down a path that would ultimately look to change their path (Spinel gives up on her desire to destroy the world and decided to start new friendships going to live on Homeward with the Diamonds, currently without spoiling things, Surge seems to be starting down a path to become a better person, and...a hero).
